Greenwoods Society is one
of India’s
Premier organizations setup for the welfare of senior civil servants. It was
founded in 1997 by a group of like-minded friends from IAS and other All India
Services to setup a dream eco-friendly habitat at Greater Noida.
For its first phase it was allotted 30 acres at Plot No. 10 Pocket P-2, Sector
Omega – I, Greater Noida City, UP. In this phase 235
senior officers drawn from All India Services and Central Services, had taken
plots for construction of their individual houses. A large number of
aesthetically designed houses have already been built and others are under
construction in a well designed ambience. Further efforts are on by the members
to make the area more beautiful and verdant. The society has requested all members
who have not yet started construction, to do so by 15th July 2005;
failing which, further action including cancellation of plots may have to be
resorted to by the society. Further details are available in latest letter to
members of Phase I.
The overwhelming response to the
Phase I of Greenwoods Society left many other senior Government officials
seeking membership of the society and expressed desire to settle down in
Greater Noida. Therefore the society started two more
Greenwoods Schemes which are called Phase II i.e. Greenwood Grove which is at
Pocket P-II, Sector Omega I and Greenwood
Garden, which is at Plot
No. 4, Sector Pi. In Greenwood Grove – which is spread over 13.5 acres, there
are seventy individual plots, forty apartments and twenty-five villas. While
the plots have been allotted to the members, the lottery for apartments and villas
is likely to be in November 2005 after the rainy season is over. In Greenwood Gardens there are thirty members who
have individual plots. The total area of Greenwoods Gardens is 4.75 acres out
of which, the possession of 4 acres has already been handed over to the society
and Internal Development work has recently been started w.e.f.
15th of July, 2005. Diligent effort are being made to obtain the
possession of the remaining .75 acres which is likely to take some time, as
Greater Noida authority has to take the approval of
UP Government regarding certain land ceiling issues. It is expected that
lottery for individual plots in Greenwoods
Garden shall take place
in December 2005.
